Just One Smile Single 3000x3000.png

“There’s a lot of power in something as simple as a smile—and truth in the expression, “Smile and the world smiles with you.” I have long appreciated this power and loved the original song, “Smile,” sung by Nat King Cole.

Well, I finally decided to write my own “smile” song, inspired by many smiles, including Yousef’s broad, signature smile, Allan’s uninhibited FaceTime smile, Heesoo’s smile that even a mask can’t hide, and Amir’s loving smile with raised eyebrows, which would’ve even made Groucho smile! And who can forget Chaplin’s memorable smile in the final scene of City Lights, or Dan’s “Art with a Smile,” which has not elicited “just one smile,” but thousands and thousands of them. Thanks also to lyric writing guru, Kay Parker, who turned a few frowns on my face into smiles with her excellent ideas.”

LYRIC

When words get in the way
And you don’t know what to say
It doesn’t even take a single word
For your message to be heard

Just one smile
Such an easy thing to share
Just one smile
To show someone you care
A smile on your face
What a difference it makes
And all it takes is
Just one smile

When you need a simple way
To brighten up your day
To pick somebody up when they are down
And spread some joy all around

REPEAT CHORUS

It’s a universal language we all understand
And love and kindness go hand in hand
Puts everyone at ease so they feel at home
It’s a way to say, “You’re not alone”

REPEAT CHORUS

JUST ONE SMILE
